Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at birralee.king@lccl.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A Marriage Celebrant helps you tailor a ceremony that perfectly suits you. They will officiate the ceremony, ensuring all legalities are followed, and submit the required paperwork to Births, Deaths, and Marriages.

A Marriage Celebrant ceremony offers flexibility in both content and location. While there are a few legal requirements that must be included, the rest of the ceremony is crafted uniquely for you.

Call or email me, and we can arrange a free, obligation-free meeting to get to know each other. If we connect, I will guide you through the next stages.

A Passport or Original Birth Certificate and a Photo ID such as a current driver’s license.

  • Copies of Birth Certificates can be obtained from Birth Deaths and Marriage in the state of your birth. If you are born overseas and don't have a passport, a birth certificate may be obtained from your Country's embassy

And if you have been married before - also bring with you:

If a widow or widower: Death Certificate of spouse.

  • A copy may be obtained from Department of Births, Deaths and Marriages in the state that the death occurred.

If divorced: Decree Absolute of divorce or Certificate of divorce.

  • A copy may be obtained from the ‘Family Court of Australia.’ In the state where the divorce occurred.

 - Notice of Intended Marriage and how it's lodged.

The celebrant completes a Notice of Intended Marriage, lodged with the celebrant once all parties sign it. It must be completed at least one month before the wedding date. The deposit is paid to the celebrant at this time.

- The Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage

As you enter a legally binding marriage, you must both sign The Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage. This is stating that you are not married to anyone or each other else at this time.

You can do this yourself through the Birth, Deaths and Marriages in the state you were married. You will be required to provide proof of identity when placing an order. I can order it for you to assist you in one of the busiest times of your lives when I submit the legal paperwork after your wedding. No further proof of ID is required. There will be an additional Birth, Deaths and Marriages fee in addition to the normal celebrant’s fee
